aaronhjelt I listened to this album from start to finish without interruption, with the exception of my Bluetooth speaker loosing power. I’m sure that when I receive my compact disc, this will no longer be an issue. I loved every second of it. Favorite track: Art Party!.

Time I wanna know, wanna know when you’re not around You're hot and you're cold an operation of surprise even though I found you on the ground Time I wanna know, wanna know what you had in mind With space and distance from the main hive, main hive, the main hive As I lay here looking at the roots of society I keep thinking the struggles kind of funny because we got the technology As I lay here looking at to the internet I laugh because you can't even find me in the stereo between the make it until you break it daydream daydream daydream daydream daydream daydream daydream Time I wanna know, wanna know when you’re not around You're hot and you're cold an operation of surprise even though I found you on the ground Time I wanna know, wanna know what you had in mind With space and distance from the main hive, main hive I keep thinking the dirts in my bed, keep thinking those syncopations all dead I keep the patterns, in my head, in my head I keep thinking the dirts in my bed, keep thinking those syncopations all dead I keep the patterns patterns in my head, in my head, in my head

Art Party! 03:15
Shoot the arrow up and watch it come down, high above the ground Sharpest points right to the eye like a disagreement you had with your mind Down the hill I fall again, smash my life into your theoretical web of quick sand Take a broken beating on the stairs, talking like they know what I need Can’t even tell if, we’re having fun just yet It’s an art party baby we get wine drunk and we jet set Can't take no more, can take no more, of this autonomous strife has control What a time, what a place, what an excuse, what a waste of your freedom And shoot the arrow up and watch it come down, high above the ground Sharpest points right to the eye like a disagreement you had with your mind Can’t even tell if, you’re having fun just yet It’s an art party baby we get wine drunk and we jet set We mix the reds with the greens, add the yellows then we jump and scream It’s an art party baby, we got lots of places to be Art Party! Art Party! Art Party!

As a kid I started fires, and that would seem to you like a selfish desire to you How many people do you think I really burned - did I ever ever hurt you? I think back to the age 13, back back when things were so easy stuck in between trapped outside the city Real danger was unknown eyes just curious about flame and smoke, not old enough to fathom the power I held in my hand As a kid I started fires that would seem to you like a selfish desire to you How many people do, you think I really burn did I ever ever hurt you? Despite the reputation of surprise, you made me laugh I picked you up when you cried Conscious effort so it seems, but it’s really so I won’t bleed Oh how you deceived me, programmed to believe Conscious effort so it seems, but I drown you in the roots As a kid I started fires that would seem to you like a selfish desire to you How many people do you think I really burned did I ever ever hurt you? Think back to the age of 20, all I wanted was to leave the scene and get away, dream devotions but drowned in urban pity Get the red can pour it out, strike anywhere match from the kitchen now - It's out of control help me help me put it out Despite the reputation of surprise, you made me laugh I picked you up when you cried Conscious effort so it seems, but it’s really so I won’t bleed Oh how you deceived me, programmed to believe Conscious effort so it seems, but I drown you in the roots

Reality stole the real me, that's when it got fantastic Remember when you see a fabricated scene, ignore them no it’s not you Come on let’s go outside, turned to you to come with you’re always high It’s simply cold to be alone, better by myself than with an introverted mind Used to live, used to live on that east side Used to live, used to live that south side Used to live, used to live all around, so many places in the right town The Truth stole the fake me, and that’s when it got frantic When you see a thrown together dream, take heed maybe it's not you no Used to live, used to live on that east side Used to live, used to live the west side Used to live, used to live all around, so many places in the right town Used to live, used to live on that east side Used to live, used to live the south side Used to live, used to live all around, so many places in the right town

Some will say ukulele girls are dead, I have a feeling they're waiting for their time again And some will say they moved on to guitar, maybe autoharp I’ll just tell you they aren’t folding they will move again Yeah yeah yeah when it’s my time to go, I wanna move super fast like them into a black hole Yeah yeah yeah when I’m strumming this guitar, I’m reminded not to think back too far They got tiny instruments under their beds, honed senses in their head, taste bloods tell me they’re not dead She's a soul sister she's gonna tell you a story, on the portable instrument she holding in her hand Yeah yeah yeah when it’s my time to go, I wanna move super fast like them into a black hole Yeah yeah yeah when I’m strumming this guitar, I’m reminded not to think back too far Yeah yeah yeah when I'm strumming this guitar, I'm reminded not to think back too far

Big City who are we, collectable situations distant future I guess we’ll see You say you wanna build it up from the floor, a real person starts with nothing more than a dream to succeed Walking by myself sometimes to get away from the rewind The way it is, isn’t how it has to be Walking by myself sometimes to get away from the rewind The way it is, isn’t how it has to be Let’s go get lost and find yourself, let’s go get lost a choice I made years ago, a choice I made years ago in confidence Let’s go get lost and find yourself, let’s go get lost a choice I made years ago, a choice I made years ago in confidence If you're going be bad, do it good If you're going be sad at least do it your way If you're going be bad, do it good If you're going be sad at least do it your way If you're going be bad do it my way If you're going be bad, you better be true to you If you're going to be bad, do it good Walking by myself sometimes, to get away from the rewind The way it is, isn’t how it has to be Walking by myself sometimes, to get away from the rewind The way it is, isn’t how it has to be has to be Has to be, has to be, has to be, has to be Has to be, has to be, has to be, has to be

credits

released October 3, 2019

We are Ryan Saul, Dan Haywood, Dustin Crowson, Ezra Snyder

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Chuck Goodwin at Sinik Sound.
We recorded in the comfort of Chuck's home studio. We drank his Tequila and he only told us to "Shut the FUCK UP!" three times a night. Much love and respect for this man. A legend and a staunch professional.

Album art by Jacob Garvin a.k.a. Sex the Cat

Super Special Thanks to:

Jordan Richardson- thank you sincerely for giving the album your ears when we were fatigued from listening to it 1,000,000 times. Your edit notes were amazing and so so appreciated. Cheers! Go Frogs!

Silas Stewart- who was our drummer for a stint, and helped us write a grip of these songs in a frigid cavernous LUX Storage Unit. Here's to taking long bubble baths, and listening to jazz my friend!

Mitchell Martell- who was our former drummer. He helped us in a pinch and played a series of shows so that we could continue to develop these songs in a live setting. We love ya buddy!

Jeff Strock- who was our bass player for a very short spell at the beginning portion of the this album's writing process. His heart went towards his stand up comedy career, and that's ok. xoxxo always

Dustin Crowson- he's the "fuck it, let's go on tour" temporary bass player. Our shame hole sleeper. Thank you especially for not moving to Seattle. And being the song writer that we've always wanted and needed. You are appreciated greatly. Yes, he's still in the band. He will be forever.

Mike DeJaynes- we Sincerely thank you for always being willing to jump on the drums at Hauf Open Mic to help Dustin and Ryan play and develop these songs. You're a gem of a human and holy crap are you a talented soul.

Emile Millar- for always being honest, even when it hurts.

Elana James and Sally Hope- whom allowed Ryan to house sit when they were out of town...when he decided to live in his camper trailer on the streets of Bozeman. All of the lyrics to these songs were written while pacing around y'alls homes.

Lastly, the BOZEMAN MUSIC SCENE. The incubator that inspires and pushes us to keep playing. The Hauf, Lotus Eaters Productions, Lokken Production, Chicken Jam West, Whistle Pig Music, Cactus Records, The Molly Brown, Harvest Fusion Festival, Groovin' On Festival, CampDaze, DreyFest, The Filling Station, and The Zebra (RIP). Panther Car, The Salamanders, Wrinkles, Chairea, The Magpies, Bull Market, As the Crow Flies, Fuuls, Love Darts, BOYS (RIP), Zenitram, Idaho Green, Hell City Kitty, MOTH, Tiny Plastic Stars, Wire Rider, Rose Gold (RIP), RANGES, Anaconda Vise.

about

Modern Sons

Rooted in garage rock the four piece brings a ubiquitously sonic ambience with crunchy guitars and sophisticated bass lines. Organic structures are not based in a particular style of music, but rooted in the expression of experience and the song itself. They effectively and skillfully uses textural changes of dynamic to step into another sub genre of rock they coin as Psychedelic Post-Punk. ... more
